At the University of Seville we have always held a serious commitment to reaching complete integration of all members of the University Community and society in general. One of our fundamental priorities is to offer a "University for all" based on a plan of equality.
From this approach, our notion of getting the best possible levels of accessibility to our website originated. We have worked diligently as we have tried to facilitate the access to information without any limitations due to disability or lack of connectivity.
Our commitment is related to what was previously stipulated in the Law of Information and Electronic Commerce for Services to Society (LSSICE) that establishes that the web sites of all public institutions should be accessible before 31 December of 2005.
We used XHTML 1.0 and CSS in accordance with their respective specifications indicated by the W3C because we believe that usability and accessibility should have a solid foundation.
We have also made an effort to reach a level of AA accessibility according to what is quantified in the 1.0 WCAG version. Nevertheless, we are conscious of the number of Priority 3 WCAG checkpoints that are subjective. Although we are sure that we have honestly fulfilled them, there could be cases that are open to other interpretations.
This website uses the Open Source Content Management System Plone, and was designed to be totally accessible and usable, in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG v1.0).
